The sage Maitreya said to Vidura: After his appearance, Manu, the father of mankind, along with his wife, thus addressed the reservoir of Vedic wisdom, Brahmā, with obeisances and folded hands.
Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura Gauḍīya
Translation
Maitreya said: After Manu appeared along with his wife, folding his hands and offering respects, he spoke to Brahmā, the source of the Vedas.
Manu and his wife approach Brahmā together with obeisances and folded hands. Partnerships that begin by jointly bowing to a higher source have a different trajectory than ones built on mutual self-reference.
Reflection Questions
  • Who is the 'Brahmā' to whom my closest partnership bows together?
  • What changes when a couple's first habit is shared reverence rather than shared striving?
