O son of the Kurus.
O son of the Kurus, when Brahmā saw that in spite of the presence of sages of great potency there was no sufficient increase in population, he seriously began to consider how the population could be increased.
Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura Gauḍīya
Translation
O Vidura! Understanding that the creation produced from the powerful sages was not sufficient, Brahmā again began to reflect in his heart. Brahmā had thought that Marīci and others whom he had previously created would create a huge population. However he again made efforts.
Brahmā notices that even great sages have not increased the population enough and begins to think seriously. Honest assessment of insufficient results is the first step toward a new approach. Refusing to notice the gap is the real problem.
Reflection Questions
  • Where am I refusing to notice that current efforts are not producing sufficient results?
  • What 'seriously consider' moment have I been avoiding?
