Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura Gauḍīya
Translation
O best of the devatās! Because you cried out in anxiety as a child the people will call you Rudra.
Rudra gets his name from the act of crying. Our identities are partly forged by what we did at our most vulnerable moments. The Lord and His representatives can sanctify even our distress into a name.
Reflection Questions
  • What name has my crying earned me, and is it the name I want to grow into?
  • How can I let an old cry become a doorway rather than a label of shame?
