That wind created a terrible sound and brought in its wake fearsome clouds that were accompanied by lightning and roaring thunder and that poured down on all sides torrents of rain as heavy as wagon wheels.
Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura Gauḍīya
Translation
That wind created a terrible sound. After that, fearsome, thick clouds appeared, accompanied by lightning and roaring thunder, and poured down on all sides torrents of rain as heavy as chariot wheels. The torrents were as heavy as wheels of a chariot.
The wind brought clouds with lightning, thunder, and torrential rain — a terrible sound everywhere. The Lord's display of maya can be overwhelming and beautiful at once. We should not assume revelation will always be gentle.
Reflection Questions
  • Where do I limit my expectation of God to gentle experiences only?
  • How would I receive a 'thunderous' instruction?
