Cupid, thinking he had conquered the sage, then shot his arrow. But all these attempts to seduce Mārkaṇḍeya proved futile, just like the useless endeavors of an atheist.

Translation
Cupid, thinking he had conquered the sage, then shot his arrow. But all these attempts proved futile, just like the useless endeavors of a person with bad luck.
Anīśasya means “of a person with bad fortune.”
Personal Guidance
Thinking he has conquered the sage, Cupid shoots his arrow — but it proves useless, like trying to harm an enlightened one. Real inner steadiness is not impressive externally; it just doesn't move when struck.
Reflection Questions
- Where in my life have I mistaken being unmoved by something for being unaware?
- Could quiet stability be one of my hidden strengths?
