Translation
Sūta Gosvāmī said: Advised in this manner, Mahārāja Janmejaya replied, "So be it." Honoring the words of the great sage, he stopped the snake sacrifice and worshiped Bṛhaspati, the most eloquent of sages.
Janamejaya replies, 'So be it,' and honors the sage's words. To stop mid-course, after a public commitment, takes humility. Wise people prize being right less than being good.
Reflection Questions
  • Where am I clinging to a public commitment that wisdom now asks me to lay down?
  • What would help me say 'so be it' rather than dig in?
