“For the sake of conquering me, materialistic persons fight one another. Fathers oppose their sons, and brothers fight one another, because their hearts are bound to possessing political power.
Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura Gauḍīya
Translation
For the sake of conquering me, materialistic persons fight with fathers, sons and brothers, because their hearts are bound to possessiveness for an impermanent kingdom.
Possession-hunger turns fathers against sons, brothers against brothers. Family bonds shred when power is the prize. The protection is to keep the heart's main bond with Kṛṣṇa — only then can family love stay clean.
Reflection Questions
  • Where has a possession (money, property, status) quietly become more important than a family bond?
  • What single conversation could begin healing it?
