In Kali-yuga men will develop hatred for each other even over a few coins. Giving up all friendly relations, they will be ready to lose their own lives and kill even their own relatives.
Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura Gauḍīya
Translation
In Kali-yuga, men will develop hatred for each other even over a few coins. Giving up all friendly relations, they will be ready to lose their own lives and kill even their own relatives. They will quarrel over twenty cowries.
Hatred over a few coins; relatives killed; friendships sold cheap. Kali's economics corrupt the heart. The protection: hold relationships above transactions, even when transactions feel pressing.
Reflection Questions
  • Where is a small financial issue currently risking a relationship?
  • What would prioritizing the relationship cost — and is it worth it?
