The citizens will suffer greatly from cold, wind, heat, rain and snow. They will be further tormented by quarrels, hunger, thirst, disease and severe anxiety.
Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura Gauḍīya
Translation
The citizens will suffer greatly from cold, wind, heat, rain and snow, and by quarrels, hunger, thirst, disease and severe anxiety.
Kali brings cold, heat, drought, quarrel, hunger, disease and anxiety. We cannot escape the climate of the age, but we can practice tolerance — a quality the Bhāgavatam keeps praising — and let suffering deepen rather than embitter us.
Reflection Questions
  • Which difficulty in my life am I resenting more than learning from?
  • How might I let it deepen my dependence on Kṛṣṇa?
