Tormented by separation from the Lord, His parents gave up their lives at that very spot. My dear Parīkṣit, the wives of the Yādavas then climbed onto the funeral pyres, embracing their dead husbands.

Translation
Tormented by separation from the Lord, his parents (Vasudeva and Devakī) gave up their lives at that very spot. My dear Parīkṣit, the wives of the Yādavas then climbed onto the funeral pyres, embracing their dead husbands.
This description should be explained to be superficial and not actual fact.
Personal Guidance
Tormented by separation, the parents gave up their lives at that spot; the wives climbed funeral pyres embracing their dead husbands. Devotion shows in following the loved one's path.
Reflection Questions
- What 'pyre' does my devotion sometimes ask me to enter, in less literal ways?
- What does that loyalty mean?
