King Aila said: Alas, just see the extent of my delusion! This goddess was embracing me and held my neck in her grip. My heart was so polluted by lust that I had no idea how my life was passing.
Gauḍīya Ācāryas
Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura
Gauḍīya
Translation
King Aila said: Alas, just see the extent of my delusion! She held my neck in her grip and my heart became polluted by lust. Thus I had no idea how my life was passing.
My heart griped by lust, my life has been spent up.
Personal Guidance
King Aila laments: see the extent of my delusion — she embraced me and gripped my neck while my lust-polluted heart did not register how life was passing. Lust hijacks time-perception.
Reflection Questions
- Where has 'how life was passing' escaped my attention because of attachment?
- What would attentive reckoning look like?
