In his home, devoid of religiosity and lawful sense gratification, the family members and guests were never properly respected, even with words. He would not even allow sufficient gratification for his own body at the suitable times.
Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura Gauḍīya
Translation
In his home, devoid of religiosity, the family members and guests were never properly respected, even with words. He would not even allow sufficient gratification for his own body at suitable times. Śūnyāvasathe means in “household life without acts of dharma.”
In his home, devoid of religion and lawful pleasure, family and guests were never properly respected — and even his own body was not allowed enough at the right times. Miserliness starves everyone.
Reflection Questions
  • Where do I starve myself or others under pretense of thrift?
  • What single act of generosity would shift the home's atmosphere?
