Generally, the wealth of misers never allows them any happiness. In this life it causes their self-torment, and when they die it sends them to hell.

A miser is afraid to spend his money even for obligatory religious and social duties. Offending God and people in general, he goes to hell.

Translation
Generally, the wealth of misers never allows them any happiness. In this life it causes their self-torment, and when they die it sends them to hell. They go to hell because they do not perform daily or periodic rites out of fear of spending their money.
Misers' wealth gives them no happiness — self-torment here and hell after. The double cost is named.
Reflection Questions
  • Where does miserliness in me cause torment without giving joy?
  • What loosening would help?
