  • evam-vidhāni — of this kind
Compound: evam (thus) + vidha (sort). The pastime just narrated is typical, not unique. The Bhāgavatam habitually closes a līlā with this phrase to relativize the just-told to the larger corpus.
  • adbhutāni — wondrous
Adjective from adbhuta — the adbhuta-rasa, wonder. The same rasa Devakī exhibited in verse 57 is now named as the chapter's defining flavor. Gauḍīyas: adbhuta-rasa is one of the seven secondary rasas in Bhakti-rasāmṛta-sindhu.
  • parama-ātmanaḥ — of the Supreme Soul
Compound: parama (supreme) + ātman. The narrator names Kṛṣṇa by His Paramātmā-aspect, reminding the reader that the personal Kṛṣṇa of Dvārakā is identical with the universal Self.
  • ananta-vīryasya — of Him whose valor is unlimited
Compound: ananta (unlimited) + vīrya (valor). His powers do not exhaust; one Sutala-mission is one drop. Gauḍīyas: ananta-vīrya is also a name of Bhagavān — the Person whose action is structurally inexhaustible.
Śrī Kṛṣṇa, the Supreme Soul, the Lord of unlimited valor, performed countless pastimes just as amazing as this one, O descendant of Bharata.
Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura Gauḍīya
Translation
Śrī Kṛṣṇa, the Supreme Soul, the Lord of unlimited valor, performed countless pastimes just as amazing as this one, O descendant of Bharata.
Jīva Gosvāmī Gauḍīya
Commentary

Śukadeva summarizes the stories about Kṛṣṇa in order to conclude the work quickly, fearing that Parīkṣit’s departure time was at hand. The stories are infinite since simultaneously he reveals unlimited pastimes. This was witnessed by Nārada. The cause is that Kṛṣṇa has unlimited powers (ananta-vīryasya), because he is the source of all other forms (paramātmanaḥ).

Śrīdhara Svāmī Gauḍīya
Commentary

Such unlimited pastimes are beyond material conception, showing directly the unlimited powers of the Lord (adbhūtāni). Or the auspicious activities or powers are astonishing and unlimited since the Lord has unlimited power, since he is the antaryāmī (paramātmanaḥ), causing all actions at all times everywhere, and since he is Kṛṣṇa, svayam bhagavān, who appeared in the world to manifest his unlimited glories. His unlimited powers indicate that he is supreme Lord. O descendent of Bharata, you can understand this because you have been born in a great dynasty. It is not possible to relate all the Lord’s activities. You understand this.

Kṛṣṇa performs countless amazing pastimes — this is one of many. The single grace we receive is part of an unending stream; God's giving is His character, not an exception.
Reflection Questions
  • Do I treat past grace as exceptional rather than expected?
  • What stream of grace am I currently in that I have stopped noticing?

One pastime in a sea of pastimes. The Bhāgavatam does not pretend this is the only Sutala-mission; Kṛṣṇa's vīryas are unending. The verse is a frame-marker: 'remember this is one wave; the ocean is ananta.'
