  • sādhayitvā — having accomplished
Gerund of causative of √sādh. 'Having brought-to-completion'. The Bhāgavatam credits Kṛṣṇa as the actual sādhaka of the sacrifice — Yudhiṣṭhira is the yajamāna but the work's completion is the Lord's. Gauḍīyas: every bhakta-effort closes only by His sādhana.
  • yoga - īśvara - īśvaraḥ — the supreme master of the masters of mystic power
Compound: yoga-īśvara (Lord of yoga, a title for the perfected yogi) + īśvara (master). 'Lord of yoga-lords'. Gauḍīyas: the title appears at the close of the Gītā (18.78) and recurs here — Kṛṣṇa is not a yogi among yogis; the yogi-class itself has a Lord.
  • katicit māsān — some months
Indefinite measure: katicit (some) + māsa (month). The Bhāgavatam declines to specify — what matters is not the calendar but the suhṛd-rāga that holds Him there.
  • su - hṛdbhiḥ abhiyācitaḥ — being earnestly begged by His well-wishers
Compound: su-hṛd (good-hearted ones, friends) + abhiyācita (asked, importuned). Gauḍīyas: Kṛṣṇa is bound only by yācñā of His devotees — bhakta-prema is His leash. The Lord of yoga-lords is held in place by being begged.
Thus Śrī Kṛṣṇa, the Lord of all masters of mystic yoga, saw to the successful execution of this great sacrifice on behalf of King Yudhiṣṭhira. Afterwards, the Lord stayed with His intimate friends for a few months at their earnest request.

Although Lord Kṛṣṇa is the master of all masters of yoga, such as Lord Śiva, still He was controlled by King Yudhiṣṭhira’s pure love. Thus the Lord personally saw to the successful completion of the King’s sacrificial performance. And after that He agreed to stay with His dear friends in Indraprastha for a few more months.

Translation
Thus Śrī Kṛṣṇa, the Lord of all masters of mystic yoga, saw to the successful execution of this great sacrifice on behalf of King Yudhiṣṭhira. Afterwards, the Lord stayed with His intimate friends for a few months at their earnest request.
Commentary

Krsna is the lord of all lords of yoga such as Siva (yogesvaresvara). Out of great love for Yudisthira however, he became the servant and carried out the desires of Yudhisthira. He personally bore all the burdens for the sacrifice.

Jīva Gosvāmī Gauḍīya
Commentary

Though Kṛṣṇa was the controller of the lords of devatās, requested by his friends and controlled by their prayer, he stayed. Or because he is the master of all masters of yoga, able to expand himself unlimitedly (SB 10.69.2), he gave bliss by his personal form to all types of friends.

Śrīdhara Svāmī Gauḍīya
Commentary

Kṛṣṇa was the lord of devotees like the Kumāras and Nārada (masters of yoga), because he was directly bhagavān (kṛṣṇaḥ). He had the sacrifice accomplished easily, by his methods and śaktis (sam-sādhayitvā). Or he was the lord of the devotees, who control other yogas. Thus he was affectionate to his devotees. Requested repeatedly (abhi) or in that place, by Yudhiṣṭhira and others, he stayed.

Kṛṣṇa, master of mystic yoga, saw to the sacrifice's success and then stayed with His friends for months at their request. Once a great work is done, time with loved ones is part of the harvest.
Reflection Questions
  • After major work, do I rush to the next or stay with those who matter?
  • Whose loving request to stay have I been refusing?

A master craftsman, having helped a friend build a fine house, lingers a few months in its rooms — not because the house cannot stand without him, but because his presence is the friendship the house was built to host. Kṛṣṇa stays in Indraprastha not for the Pāṇḍavas' yajña but for their company.
