Important Words
-
prāñjalayaḥ
—
with palms joined in supplication
Pra + añjali (cupped palms). Añjali-mudrā — the universal Bhāratīya gesture of receiving and offering at once. Gauḍīyas: añjali is the body's posture of bhakti; the verse shows the entire assembly's body recognise Kṛṣṇa even before words.
-
namaḥ
—
obeisances to You
From na + mā (not mine) — 'I am not, You are'. The first word of every Vaiṣṇava mantra. Gauḍīyas: namas is the soul's deepest grammar — every breath should be a namas if the ātman has remembered itself.
-
jaya
—
all victory to You
From √ji (to conquer). The Vaiṣṇava cheer. The assembly cries jaya after centuries of jaya-cries to lesser kings — Sahadeva's verse has retrained their throats.
-
puṣpa - vṛṣṭayaḥ
—
showers of flowers
Compound: puṣpa (flower) + vṛṣṭi (rain). Devas drop flowers when something pleases them — a stock Purāṇic signal. The unseen world ratifies what Sahadeva and Yudhiṣṭhira have done below.
When they saw Lord Kṛṣṇa thus honored, nearly all who were present joined their palms reverentially, exclaiming “Obeisances to You! All victory to You!” and then bowed down to Him. Flowers rained down from above.

Translation
When they saw Lord Kṛṣṇa thus honored, nearly all who were present joined their palms reverentially, exclaiming "Obeisances to You! All victory to You!" and then bowed down to Him. Flowers rained down from above.
Jīva Gosvāmī
Gauḍīya
Commentary
This verse indicates that all who saw this loving worship also developed prema. Some said, “I offer respects” and some said “Victory!” Or everyone in joy said “I offer respects. Victory!” From the sky flowers fell, spreading everywhere in the assembly.

Personal Guidance
Nearly all present joined palms and bowed; flowers rained from above. When one person honors Kṛṣṇa wholeheartedly, others are drawn in, and even unseen beings respond.
Reflection Questions
- Whom does my honoring of the Lord encourage?
- What unseen response might be supporting my offering?
Analogy
When the senior brother is publicly honored, every younger sibling in the room folds hands at once — the relief of seeing the right thing acknowledged. Flowers fall from above because even the unseen world has been waiting for this moment of agra-pūjā.
