  • ananta-vīryasya — whose prowess is unlimited
Compound: ananta (endless) + vīrya (potency, prowess). One of Bhagavān's principal qualifications. Vīrya here is not merely physical strength but the unbounded efficacy of His will — the same vīrya that arranged the sixteen-thousand-fold līlā.
  • muhuḥ dṛṣṭvā — having repeatedly witnessed
muhuḥ (repeatedly) + absolutive of √dṛś. The wonder is not from a single sighting; Nārada has watched the same Bhagavān palace after palace. The repetition deepens the wonder rather than dulling it — a Gauḍīya principle: nava-nava prati-kṣaṇa, ever-fresh moment by moment.
  • jātakautukaḥ — filled with wonder
Compound: jāta (born, arisen) + kautuka (curiosity, wonder). Wonder is born afresh in Nārada — confirming that Kṛṣṇa-darśana renews kautuka rather than satisfying it once and for all. Gauḍīyas read this as the structure of prema: increase without saturation.
  • vismitaḥ — amazed
From vi + √smi. The same word from v.22 returns at the chapter's end — bracketing Nārada's experience between two vismayas. Astonishment is both the doorway and the room.
Having repeatedly seen the vast mystic display of Lord Kṛṣṇa, whose power is unlimited, the sage was amazed and filled with wonder.
Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura Gauḍīya
Translation
Having repeatedly seen the vast mystic display of Lord Kṛṣṇa, whose power is unlimited, the sage was amazed and filled with wonder.
Jīva Gosvāmī Gauḍīya
Commentary

Though Nārada was omniscient (ṛṣiḥ), seeing constantly the most excellent appearance of yoga-māyā which was beyond his intelligence, filled with happiness, he was astonished.

Śrīdhara Svāmī Gauḍīya
Commentary

The sage, though omniscient, seeing again and again (vīkṣya)--to remove doubts, since it was most difficult to understand--the great display of yoga-māyā of Kṛṣṇa, who appeared in the world to display his unlimited powers, who was directly bhagavān, and had unlimited power, was amazed and became filled with bliss (jāta-kautukaḥ).

Repeatedly witnessing Kṛṣṇa's vast mystic display, Nārada was amazed and full of wonder. Familiarity with the Lord does not deplete wonder; it deepens it. Bhakti grows astonishment, not jadedness.
Reflection Questions
  • Has my familiarity with Kṛṣṇa become dullness rather than deepening wonder?
  • What about Him could I look at fresh today, as if for the first time?

Even Nārada, who has carried his vīṇā across countless worlds, is left vismita. The chapter wants us to notice: the right response to Kṛṣṇa is not familiarity but renewed wonder, and the deeper the bhakta, the more deeply astonished.
