  • śuśrūṣaṇa-arcitaḥ — worshiped with faithful service
Compound: śuśrūṣaṇa (eager hearing/service) + arcitaḥ (worshiped). Two limbs of navadhā-bhakti compressed into one word. That the Bhāgavatam uses arcana-vocabulary for Ūṣā's care of Aniruddha indicates that love and worship are not separable categories; they reach for the same shape.
  • srak-gandha-dhūpa-dīpa-āsana — garlands, fragrance, incense, lamps, seat
Compound list: srak + gandha + dhūpa + dīpa + āsana. The exact substances of pañca-upacāra arcana. Gauḍīyas note: arcana's vocabulary keeps surfacing in Vraja-style love-stories because vraja-prema is the parā-bhakti that includes arcana's substance and exceeds its frame.
  • gūḍhaḥ — kept hidden
Past participle of √guh (to hide). The Lord-as-vyūha is gūḍha within Bāṇa's palace. Gauḍīyas hear the larger pattern: Kṛṣṇa hidden inside the gopīs' hearts (gopī-hṛdaya-gūḍha) is the topmost mystery. Hiddenness, in bhakti, intensifies presence.
  • apahṛta-indriyaḥ — His senses diverted (by Ūṣā)
Compound: apahṛta (carried away) + indriyaḥ (senses). The Lord's senses being 'carried away' by His devotee is the standard Vraja-pattern (Yaśodā binding, gopīs leading by the hand). Even Aniruddha submits to this pattern — Bhagavān's joy is to be conquered by love.
  • pravṛddha-snehayā — by her ever-increasing affection
Compound: pravṛddha (greatly increased) + sneha (affection). Sneha is one of the higher stages of prema-bhakti in Rūpa Gosvāmī's bhakti-rasāmṛta-sindhu (rati → prema → sneha → māna → praṇaya → rāga → anurāga → bhāva → mahābhāva). Even displaced, the vocabulary tracks the same ladder.
Ūṣā worshiped Aniruddha with faithful service, offering Him priceless garments, along with garlands, fragrances, incense, lamps, sitting places and so on. She also offered Him beverages, all types of food, and sweet words. As He thus remained hidden in the young ladies’ quarters, Aniruddha did not notice the passing of the days, for His senses were captivated by Ūṣā, whose affection for Him ever increased.
Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura Gauḍīya
Translation
Ūṣā worshiped Aniruddha with faithful service, offering Him priceless garments, along with garlands, fragrances, incense, lamps, sitting places and so on. She also offered Him beverages, all types of food, and sweet words. As He thus remained hidden in the young ladies' quarters, Aniruddha did not notice the passing of the days, for His senses were captivated by Ūṣā, whose affection for Him ever increased.
Commentary

Usa honored him with various services described in this verse.

Jīva Gosvāmī Gauḍīya
Commentary

She offered foods which were chewed, drunk, sucked and licked (pāna-bhojana). The words actually mean peya and bhojya. It takes the meaning according to krtya-lyuṭo bahulam. (Pāṇini 3.3.113) She worshipped him devotedly with these items. She had anurāga which increase in newer ways (pra—vṛddha) again and again. Because of that he was not aware of the passage of time. He was able to leave Kṛṣṇa and stay there a long time because it was Kṛṣṇa’s will, for certain pastimes. His senses were captured by Ūṣā. This means he was bewildered by prema.

Śrīdhara Svāmī Gauḍīya
Commentary

As she was pleased with him, he was pleased with her. That is described in two verses. Ādibhiḥ includes a bed. She worshipped him with drinks, chewable (bhojana) and unchewable (bhakṣyaiḥ) foods, with jokes (vākyaiḥ) and bhakti or services like washing his feet (śuśruṣaṇa). His senses were stolen by Uṣā, famous for her beauty (tayā), whose anurāga increased in ever fresh ways (pravṛddha) continually. He thus became unware of how many days had passed, what was today and whether it was day or night. Why? His senses and mind were captured by Ūṣā. This means he was bewildered by prema.

Related verses
Ūṣā served Aniruddha with garments, garlands, fragrances, food and sweet words; captivated by her increasing affection, He lost track of the passing days. Loving service makes time disappear in a way no other engagement can.
Reflection Questions
  • When was the last time I lost track of time because of loving service rather than distraction?
  • What small acts of attentive offering could re-create that timelessness in my day?

Like a deity served with daily upacāra in a closed shrine, Aniruddha receives garments, garlands, fragrance, incense, lamps, seats, food, drink — the sixteen-fold pūjā translated into a love-room. Gauḍīyas notice: even when prema is mis-framed as private possession, the servings instinctively follow the arcana pattern.
