Important Words
-
sa - bhāryam
—
with His wife (Satyabhāmā)
Prefix sa- (with) + bhāryā. Satyabhāmā's presence on Garuḍa is structurally important — she will witness the prayer of her own former mother Bhūmi (Satyabhāmā being an aṁśa of Bhū-devī) and later prompt the pārijāta uprooting.
-
sa - taḍit - ghanam
—
a cloud with lightning
Compound image: taḍit (lightning) + ghana (cloud). Kṛṣṇa is the dark cloud, Satyabhāmā the lightning. Gauḍīya rasa-vocabulary recognizes this as a śyāma-gaura pair — the dark Lord and His fair consort — a stock image for divine couples.
-
śata - ghnīm
—
Śataghnī (a weapon, lit. 'slayer of a hundred')
Compound: śata (hundred) + ghnī (feminine of slaying). A śakti-class weapon, more potent than ordinary arrows. Bhauma reserves it for the figure in the sky.
-
yugapat
—
simultaneously
Indeclinable: 'at once'. The whole army strikes in one moment — and one moment is all the Lord requires.
Lord Kṛṣṇa and His wife, mounted upon Garuḍa, looked like a cloud with lightning sitting above the sun. Seeing the Lord, Bhauma released his Śataghnī weapon at Him, whereupon all of Bhauma’s soldiers simultaneously attacked with their weapons.

Translation
Lord Kṛṣṇa and His wife, mounted upon Garuḍa, looked like a cloud with lightning sitting above the sun. Seeing the Lord, Bhauma released his Śataghnī weapon at Him, whereupon all of Bhauma's soldiers simultaneously attacked with their weapons.
Commentary
He threw the sataghni weapon at Krsna.
Śrīdhara Svāmī
Gauḍīya
Commentary
On seeing the Lord with his wife, Naraka became furious. The second ca means api (even). His troops attacked at the same time. Or even though he saw this beauty, he was hard-hearted. The troops were mounted on elephants or were just troops accompanying Naraka. Those with elephants were most prominent. They threw their weapons at the same time.

Personal Guidance
Kṛṣṇa and His wife on Garuḍa look like a cloud with lightning above the sun; Bhauma releases his Śataghnī, soldiers attack simultaneously. The Lord's celestial mount image precedes coordinated enemy response.
Reflection Questions
- Where does your composite spiritual identity make enemies coordinate?
- How does staying mounted on Garuḍa steady the heart?
Analogy
Cloud above sun, lightning inside cloud — the verse's image places Kṛṣṇa and Satyabhāmā in the sky as a single weather-formation, beauty and brilliance braided. Bhauma sees this and reaches for Śataghnī, the 'killer of a hundred'; he intends arithmetic against the immeasurable.
