O King, since you have asked me about our friends and relatives in the city of Dvārakā, I will inform you that all of them were cursed by the brāhmaṇas, and as a result they all became intoxicated with wine made of putrefied rice and fought among themselves with sticks, not even recognizing one another. Now all but four or five of them are dead and gone.
Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura Gauḍīya
Translation
O King! Only four or five among our friends in Dvārakā remain. Drinking rice wine, by the curse of a brāhmaṇa they become bewildered, enraged in mind, and killed each other with handfuls of reeds as if not knowing each other.
Commentary

Among the friends who, having drunk wine, became enraged and killed each other with handfuls of erakā reeds, only a four or five remain.

Since you asked about Dvārakā: all our friends were cursed by brāhmaṇas and, intoxicated with putrefied-rice wine, fought among themselves with sticks like sugarcane stalks. Devastation arrived as predicted.
Reflection Questions
  • Where am I avoiding looking at a community devastation that has already arrived?
  • What clear, painful naming would help us begin to respond?
