While the ladies of the capital [Hastināpura] were greeting Him and talking in this way, the Lord, smiling, accepted their good greetings, and casting the grace of His glance over them, He departed from the city.
Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura Gauḍīya
Translation
Sūta said: Acknowledging the words of the women of Hastināpura who had spoken in this way, with smiles and glances, Kṛṣṇa departed.
Commentary

By his glances he pleased the women who had śānta-rati, and by his smiles he pleased those with mādhurya-bhāva.

While ladies greeted Him, the Lord smiled, accepted greetings, cast grace over them, and departed the city. Even in departure, He distributes mercy. The leaving moment is itself a giving.
Reflection Questions
  • How do I leave rooms — distributing grace or withdrawing it?
  • Where could my departures become a final blessing?
