  • vibhūti — opulences
The chapter's title-word, recurring once more before the chapter closes. Every vibhūti is to be read backward — not as the thing's own glory but as a sample of Kṛṣṇa's.
  • śrī - mat — beautiful, possessing śrī
Compound: śrī (fortune, beauty) + mat (possessing). Whatever bears the marks of beauty bears them by association with the Lord of śrī. The adjective tracks ownership.
  • ūrjitam — glorious
From ūrj — 'to be strong, vigorous.' Whatever displays power and dignity. Combined with śrī-mat and vibhūti-mat, the verse covers beauty, wealth, and strength alike — all sparks.
  • tejaḥ — of the splendor
Same root as verse 36's tejaḥ. The radiance, the light-substance of the Lord. The verse compresses every observed excellence into a single material — tejas — and gives it one owner.
  • aṁśa — a part
'Fraction, portion.' Even the most stunning excellence in creation is only a piece — not 'born of the whole' but aṁśa-sambhavam, born of a fraction. The verse's humbling word: every observed glory is a piece of a piece.
Know that all opulent, beautiful and glorious creations spring from but a spark of My splendor.

Plain meaning (तात्पर्य · Tātparya)
The generalizing rule: anywhere you meet majesty, beauty, or vigor in the world, trace it to a single source — a spark of Kṛṣṇa's tejas. The verse hands Arjuna an interpretive lens for every future encounter.
Further notes (विवरण · Vivaraṇa)
The triplet vibhūtimat / śrīmat / ūrjitam covers, respectively, manifest power, beauty-fortune, and dynamic vigor — three windows onto divine immanence. The doubling yat-yat / tat-tat universalizes: no exception. 'Aṁśa' (fragment) signals that even the most awe-inspiring excellence is partial — sufficient to point but inadequate to exhaust Kṛṣṇa. Any glorious or beautiful existence should be understood to be but a fragmental manifestation of Kṛṣṇa’s opulence, whether it be in the spiritual or material world. Anything extraordinarily opulent should be considered to represent Kṛṣṇa’s opulence.

Commentary

In this verse the Lord brings together all the vibhūtis of past, present and future which were not previously mentioned. Whatever object (sattvam) has majesty (vibhūtimat), excellence (śrīmat), or extraordinary strength or power (ūrjitam), know that it comes from a portion of My power.

Translation
41. Whatever object in past, present or future displays majesty, beauty, or strength, know that it is has arisen from just a fragment of My power.
Commentary

In this verse the Lord gathers together all the vibhūtis which he did not mention. Whatever object (satttvam) exists, having powers (vibhūtimat), having abundance of beauty (śrīmat) or strength (ūrjitam), understand that the object gains it perfection (sambhavam) by a particle of My śakti (mama tejaḥ aṁśa). One should consider that all these are non-different from Me by being under My control and by being pervaded by Me. Forms like Vāmana are also included in this perception.

Bhūrijana Dāsa Gauḍīya
Commentary

This text sums‑up all the opulences previously mentioned. Everything opulent, beautiful, glorious and strong that exists should be seen as just a part of Krsna's splendor.

10.41 Whatever host of beings has 'power', namely the capacity and means to rule over; has 'splendour', has beauty or prosperity in wealth, grains etc., has 'energy,' namely, is engaged in auspicious undertakings - know such manifestations as coming fro a fragment of My 'power'. Power (Tejas) is the capacity to overcome opposition. The meaning is, know them as arising from a fraction of My inconceivable power of subduing.

Practical Applications
  • Trace beauty, glory, opulence back to Him.
  • Don't separate aesthetic experience from His presence.
  • Use beauty as remembrance.
Reflection Questions
  • What recent beauty did I enjoy without tracing it to Him?
  • What practice would make tracing automatic?

When you see a single beautiful pearl, you do not credit the pearl — you credit the oyster, and the sea, and the conditions that grew it. Kṛṣṇa says: wherever you see anything opulent, beautiful, glorious — credit the spark. Every excellence in the world is a fragment of His tejas reaching its observer.

Sudāmā's recognition of Kṛṣṇa's palace

When the impoverished brāhmaṇa Sudāmā arrived at Dvārakā and saw Kṛṣṇa's golden palaces, jeweled walls, and queens, he did not envy. He recognized: every gleam is a spark of His splendor. The opulence drew his mind toward its owner, not toward the things.

The Bhāgavatam records his return home — to find his own hut transformed — without any greed in his heart. He had absorbed the verse's lesson by seeing Kṛṣṇa's wealth correctly: not as a possession to envy but as tejaḥ-aṁśa-sambhavam, a portion of the splendor that has only one source.
