Show of self-pride: O lord of the cowherds! All glories to Sudāma, who, displaying great self-confidence, and roaring like a lion, danced around till his hairs stood on end and his eagerness of fighting increased, when the proud Kṛṣṇa tightened His belt with great show.
Purport
A devotee once said, “My dear Lord Kṛṣṇa, may Your challenger Sudāmā become glorious for his chivalrous activities, such as vibrating like a thundercloud and roaring like a lion. May all glories go to Sudāmā’s chivalrous activities!”

Commentary
The meaning is that he danced so that his hairs stood on end (sa-romāñcam) and he became more eager for fighting (sotkaṇṭham).
