Location
Open in Google MapsAccording to the Skanda Purana, the sage’s son Yada performed penance at this hilltop and was granted a vision of Narasimha (Vishnu’s man-lion avatar) in five simultaneous forms — Jvala, Gandabherunda, Yogananda, Ugra, and Lakshmi Narasimha — who then agreed to remain enshrined there permanently. The temple underwent a massive modernization between 2016 and March 2022 under the Telangana state government’s Yadadri Temple Development Authority, expanding the temple’s own footprint roughly eightfold (from 0.81 to 6.5 hectares) within a 770-hectare acquired site, at a reported cost of around ₹1,800 crore, using traditional Agama-shastra-compliant construction methods (including lime-mortar stone joinery) alongside roughly 39 kg of gold and 1,753 tonnes of silver in decorative work. The rebuilt temple was inaugurated on 28 March 2022.
