ISKCON Bangkok is the Hare Krishna movement’s institutional presence in Thailand’s capital, operating under the spiritual authority of Founder-Acharya A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. Rather than a single flagship temple, it runs as a network of several centers spread across the city — including a Thonburi temple and centers on Sukhumwit Soi 71 and Soi 39, a Prachautith center, a Ramkhamhaeng center, and a further location on Sukhumwit Soi 62 that was under construction as of this research. Together these host regular deity worship, kirtan, book distribution, and the Food for Life meal-relief program associated with ISKCON centers worldwide.
Separate, smaller ISKCON temples also exist in the Thai resort towns of Pattaya and Phuket, reflecting the wider spread of Gaudiya Vaishnava practice among Thailand’s Hindu and international devotee communities; this entry concerns the Bangkok centers specifically. As with other ISKCON communities, Janmashtami (Krishna’s appearance day) is the largest annual public observance.
Sources
- historical record: Fetched directly from ISKCON Bangkok's official website (iskconbangkok.com) during this research pass: confirms the organization operates under the guidance of Srila Prabhupada as Founder-Acharya and lists six temples/centers across Bangkok (Thonburi Temple, Sukhumwit 71, Prachautith Center, Sukhumwit 39, Ramkhamhaeng Center, and a Sukhumwit 62 location described as under construction). No single 'main' temple, address, or founding date was stated on the pages retrieved.
- historical record: Cross-checked against Wikipedia's List of Hindu temples in Thailand: this article separately lists 'ISKCON Pattaya' and 'ISKCON Phuket' as distinct temples outside Bangkok proper, without addresses or founding dates; it does not itself list a Bangkok-specific ISKCON entry by name, so the Bangkok organization's existence and center list here rests on its own official website rather than a Wikipedia citation.
For review
- This entry describes ISKCON's overall presence in Bangkok, run across several centers (Thonburi Temple, Sukhumwit 71, Prachautith Center, Sukhumwit 39, Ramkhamhaeng Center, and a newer Sukhumwit 62 location), rather than one single confirmed flagship temple building. The official website consulted did not identify which of these is the oldest/primary location, nor give a founding year for ISKCON's presence in Bangkok.
- Separately-named ISKCON temples in Pattaya and Phuket, Thailand also exist per Wikipedia's List of Hindu temples in Thailand; this entry is specifically about the Bangkok centers and should not be conflated with those.
