O subduer of Mura! Five hundred and sixty million Yadus are serving You. Your eight treasures are raining all wealth. Nine hundred thousand pure palaces are shining in glory. Who would not be astonished on seeing Your wealth?

When Kṛṣṇa was present in Dvārakā, His family, which is known as the Yadu dynasty, consisted of 560 million members. And all of these family members were very obedient and faithful to Kṛṣṇa. There were more than 900,000 big palatial buildings there to house all the people, and everyone in them respected Kṛṣṇa as the most worshipable. Devotees were astonished to see the opulence of Kṛṣṇa.

Commentary

The number of five hundred and sixty million is arrived at by considering the subdivisions of the clan. This is an example from the Lord’s pastimes manifested on earth. However, the same exists in the Lord’s unmanifest pastimes. It should be understood that by the desire of the Lord this becomes manifest on earth. Thus, it is said in the Bhāgavatam: tata ārabhya nandasya vrajaḥ sarva-samṛddhimān harer nivāsātma-guṇaiḥ ramākrīḍam abhūn nṛpa O Mahārāja Parīkṣit, the home of Nanda Mahārāja is eternally the abode of the Supreme Personality of Godhead and His transcendental qualities and is therefore always naturally endowed with the opulence of all wealth. Yet beginning from Lord Kṛṣṇa’s appearance there, Vraja (place of manifest pastimes) became the place for the pastimes of the goddess of fortune. SB 10.5.18
