Q146. What is the result of not following the Vedic scriptures?
If a person does not follow the Vedic scriptures, then he/she will become degraded. “Those who act according to their own whims, disregarding the regulations prescribed in the scriptures, never attain perfection, or happiness, or the supreme abode.” (Lord Krishna, Bhagavad-Gita 16.23) Those living beings who have no interest in culture, religion, and who do not follow any regulations as prescribed in the scriptures are called basically animals. Humans who have no interest in religion will have their desires fulfilled after this life. They will take birth in the animal kingdom, where there is no religion and no possibility of knowing God.
