BG 10.1

The Supreme Personality of Godhead said: Listen again, O mighty-armed Arjuna. Because you are My dear friend, for your benefit I shall speak to you further, giving knowledge that is better than what I have already explained.

Essence. Hear again My supreme word, which I speak for your benefit, dear friend — knowledge of Kṛṣṇa is repeated for those who can receive it.

  • Welcome repetition as kindness, not redundancy.
  • Receive the same teaching twice with greater openness.
  • Don't dismiss familiar verses; receive them fresh.

BG 10.2

Neither the hosts of demigods nor the great sages know My origin or opulences, for, in every respect, I am the source of the demigods and sages.

Essence. Neither the demigods nor the great sages know My origin — for I am the source of them all.

  • Hold humility about Kṛṣṇa's origin; even great souls don't fathom it.
  • Don't pretend to comprehend what is by nature beyond.
  • Approach Him with awe, not analysis.

BG 10.3

He who knows Me as the unborn, as the beginningless, as the Supreme Lord of all the worlds – he only, undeluded among men, is freed from all sins.

Essence. He who knows Me as unborn, beginningless, the great Lord — among mortals, he is undeluded and freed from all sins.

  • Cultivate this knowledge — Kṛṣṇa as unborn, beginningless, great Lord.
  • Use it as a daily refrain.
  • Trust that this knowledge frees.

BG 10.4-5

Intelligence, knowledge, freedom from doubt and delusion, forgiveness, truthfulness, control of the senses, control of the mind, happiness and distress, birth, death, fear, fearlessness, nonviolence, equanimity, satisfaction, austerity, charity, fame and infamy – all these various qualities of living beings are created by Me alone.

Essence. Intelligence, knowledge, freedom from doubt, forgiveness, truthfulness, sense control, peace, pleasure and pain, birth and death, fear and fearlessness, nonviolence, equanimity, satisfaction, austerity, charity, fame, infamy — all these qualities of beings come from Me alone.

  • Trace your virtues back to their source — Kṛṣṇa.
  • Don't claim authorship of your own qualities.
  • Use this verse as a humbling daily contemplation.

BG 10.6

The seven great sages and before them the four other great sages and the Manus [progenitors of mankind] come from Me, born from My mind, and all the living beings populating the various planets descend from them.

Essence. The seven great sages and four Manus — all originate in Me; all populations come from them.

  • Honor the lineage — even great sages have a source.
  • Recognize traditions as descending, not invented.
  • Don't approach Vedic culture as folklore.

BG 10.7

One who is factually convinced of this opulence and mystic power of Mine engages in unalloyed devotional service; of this there is no doubt.

Essence. He who knows in truth this opulence and yoga of Mine engages in unfaltering devotional service — there is no doubt about it.

  • Cultivate knowledge of Kṛṣṇa's opulence (vibhūti).
  • Trust that the right knowledge produces unfaltering devotion.
  • Don't try to manufacture devotion without knowledge.

BG 10.8

I am the source of all spiritual and material worlds. Everything emanates from Me. The wise who perfectly know this engage in My devotional service and worship Me with all their hearts.

BG 10.11

To show them special mercy, I, dwelling in their hearts, destroy with the shining lamp of knowledge the darkness born of ignorance.

  • Trust the indwelling Lord.

BG 10.12-13

Arjuna said: You are the Supreme Personality of Godhead, the ultimate abode, the purest, the Absolute Truth. You are the eternal, transcendental, original person, the unborn, the greatest. All the great sages such as Nārada, Asita, Devala and Vyāsa confirm this truth about You, and now You Yourself are declaring it to me.

Essence. Arjuna says: You are the Supreme Brahman, the supreme abode, the supreme purifier, the eternal divine person, the original god, unborn — all the great sages confirm it.

  • Cultivate explicit articulation of Kṛṣṇa's identity.
  • Speak it aloud in prayer — don't keep it implicit.
  • Trust the testimony of great souls who have said the same.

BG 10.14

O Kṛṣṇa, I totally accept as truth all that You have told me. Neither the demigods nor the demons, O Lord, can understand Your personality.

Essence. How shall I know You constantly thinking of You? In what forms should You be remembered?

  • Ask Kṛṣṇa to teach you how to remember Him.
